To whom it may concern:
The Alabama Chapter of the American Public Works Association is proud to announce that our Chapter will award one or more $1,500 scholarships this year for deserving students pursuing educational requirements for a career path in public works. These scholarships are provided for basic degree work only, and are not available for post-graduate academic pursuits.
The applicants must have attained junior status, with a minimum of one (1) semester or two (2) quarters remaining to graduation, not including the currently enrolled term. Please make students in the appropriate departments aware of this scholarship opportunity.
The deadline for application is May 1, 2009. The scholarships will be awarded at the annual APWA State Convention held in June, 2009. Additional information, including the application form, is attached. Please contact my office at 205-325-5232 if you have any further questions.
The scholarship application may also be found at http://alabama.apwa.net. Please let your students know that we will accept a PDF copy of the application provided the original is mailed and received within 2 weeks of the PDF. Any original applications postmarked after May 1, 2009 will be disqualified, no matter when the PDF is received.
